WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH
You’ll be part of Bain’s Next Generation Software Solutions (NGSS) team, a dynamic group focused on building scalable, high-impact software products that support Bain case teams and external clients. This cross-functional team includes experts in architecture, engineering, analytics, DevOps, and more. In this Senior Manager role, you’ll collaborate with senior architects, engineering managers, infrastructure leads, and other development teams to deliver innovative, high-quality solutions.

WHERE YOU’LL FIT WITHIN THE TEAM
As a Senior Manager, you’ll play a strategic and hands-on leadership role—driving technical architecture, overseeing software and data engineering efforts, and leading a high-performing team. You’ll support multiple products across the full SDLC, contributing to design, development, deployment, and continuous improvement. You’ll also lead people management activities, provide coaching and development, and act as a role model in Bain’s entrepreneurial and inclusive culture.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Architecture & Technical Leadership

  • Provide architectural direction and technical governance across software and data solutions

  • Lead design sessions, perform code reviews, and drive development best practices

  • Create and maintain technical designs and documentation for executive and technical audiences

Engineering Execution

  • Lead the development of scalable cloud-based B2B solutions, including hands-on coding

  • Support deployment and automation initiatives using CI/CD pipelines, scripting, and Terraform

  • Ensure alignment with security, data modeling, and performance standards

  • Investigate emerging tools and trends; lead proof-of-concept and innovation efforts

People Leadership

  • Manage and coach a team of junior and mid-level engineers

  • Oversee day-to-day work, weekly check-ins, and development planning

  • Lead performance reviews and goal-setting conversations

  • Support recruiting activities including resume reviews and interviews

ABOUT YOU

  • 8+ years of experience in software/data architecture or engineering leadership roles

  • Strong background in designing and operationalizing scalable, cloud-native systems

  • Technical depth in one or more of: .NET Core/C#, Java, Node.js, React.js, Python, Angular, Kubernetes, microservices

  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS or Azure), Terraform, GitHub Actions, and CI/CD pipelines

  • Proven ability to lead high-performing teams and navigate complex technical challenges

  • Familiarity with BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and data engineering frameworks

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills

  • Entrepreneurial mindset and a strong desire to drive innovation

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
