WHERE YOU'LL FIT WITHIN THE TEAM 

The Staff Architect II will have ownership of the technical architecture and technology aspects for multiple enterprise software products/platforms, supporting specific business capabilities. This involves providing comprehensive technical leadership throughout all phases of the product/platform lifecycle and fostering deep connections with product teams, development teams, and business and technical leadership. Additionally, this role includes active participation in licensing and cost discussions to contribute to ongoing budget planning in coordination with business and TSG leadership. An individual in this role will independently manage deliverables and projects in scope, demonstrate excellent communication and collaboration skills and will drive improvements based on their insights from the sources across related departments and Functions.


WHAT YOU'LL DO  

Technology Delivery 

  • Technology Strategy and Alignment: align initiatives with business vision, evaluate vendors, and present recommendations emphasizing unique aspects for business vision.
  • Project Management and Coordination: lead a 3rd Party software product/platform implementation, coordinate teams, and manage engagements for quick resolutions.
  • Security and Risk Management: assess and bridge security risks between applications, data, and project teams.
  • Data Integration and Documentation: support data integrations, exports, and document procedures for exchange and configurations.
  • Technical Guidance and Collaboration: define integration methodologies, guide 3rd party teams on Bain systems, and offer testing guidance.
  • AI/ ML Integration: Assess AI features in vendor platforms for business and technical fit, support integration of AI/ML services into applications, and ensure compliance with data privacy and security standards.


Planning & Technology R&D

  • Platform Lifecycle Management: review and plan platform upgrades, maintenance, and replacements, sharing roadmaps.
  • Collaborative Platform Utilization: collaborate on expanded platform use, assess viability, and establish ownership and support.
  • Technology Innovation and Skill Development: remain informed on new platform capabilities, recommend solutions, and invest in skills.
  • Research and Evaluation of Emerging Technologies: lead research on emerging technologies, evaluating their relevance to product roadmaps.
  • Software Team Collaboration: provide input on Software team technology vision, strategy, and roadmap.


ABOUT YOU 

Education

  • Associate/Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience 


Experience

  • 10 years of relevant experience
  • Extensive experience in detailed design and implementation of web-based applications and designing Micro Services/Domain Driven Design (DDD) based architecture using open-source technologies.
  • Strong understanding/experience of OOP Concepts, Design Patterns, SOLID principles, and hands-on experience in defining architecture blueprints.
  • Substantial experience with product-based development, defining non-functional requirements, and working on any cloud platform (preferably Azure) with deep dive hands-on experience.
  • Experience in providing technical leadership in business systems implementations, with familiarity in implementing mobile solutions.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of software architecture principles.
  • Familiar with modern SDLC methodologies like Agile development, Scaled Agile, Scrum/Kanban, and tools for team collaboration, release management, incident tracking and monitoring software.
  • Strong knowledge of the design and implementation of software applications on IaaS and PaaS cloud solutions on various cloud (Azure, AWS or GCP) platforms
  • Knowledge of applications/software/data, and cyber security; databases, analytics platforms, system integration platforms, API's, Search platforms etc.
  • Strong communication skills - including the ability to listen to the needs of others and comprehend complex matters, articulate issues clearly and concisely, and present effectively in both oral and written presentations to all levels in the organization
  • Understanding of Advanced Analytics including visualization tools as PowerBI, Tableau, etc.
  • Understanding of Data Governance best practices.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML concepts, architectures, and platforms (e.g., Azure ML, AWS SageMaker, OpenAI).
  • Experience evaluating AI-enabled SaaS capabilities (e.g., intelligent automation, NLP, generative AI).
  • Understanding of AI governance, bias mitigation, and responsible AI practices.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.


U.S. COMPENSATION INFORMATION

Compensation for this role includes base salary, annual discretionary performance bonus, 401(k) plan with an annual employer contribution based on years of service and Bain’s best in class benefits package (details listed below). 


Some local governments in the United States require a good-faith, reasonable salary range be included in job postings for open roles. For all other locations, the good-faith, reasonable annualized full-time salary range for this role is commensurate with competitive geographic market rates for this role and will vary based on several factors including, but not limited to experience, education, licensure/certifications, training and skill level


In Illinois, the good-faith, reasonable annualized full-time salary range for this role is between $145,000 - $174,500 placement within this range will vary based on several factors including, but not limited to experience, education, licensure/certifications, training and skill level


In Massachusetts, the good-faith, reasonable annualized full-time salary range for this role is between $152,000 - $182,500 placement within this range will vary based on several factors including, but not limited to experience, education, licensure/certifications, training and skill level


In Texas, the good-faith, reasonable annualized full-time salary range for this role is between $138,500 - $166,500 placement within this range will vary based on several factors including, but not limited to experience, education, licensure/certifications, training and skill level


Annual discretionary performance bonus


This role may also be eligible for other elements of discretionary compensation


4.5% 401(k) company contribution, which increases after 3 years of service and is 100% vested upon start date
