Description & Requirements

WHAT MAKES US A GREAT PLACE TO WORK

We are proud to be consistently recognized as one of the world’s best places to work. We are currently the #1 ranked consulting firm on Glassdoor’s Best Places to Work list and have maintained a spot in the top four on Glassdoor’s list since its founding in 2009.

Extraordinary teams are at the heart of our business strategy, but these don’t happen by chance. They require intentional focus on bringing together a broad set of backgrounds, cultures, experiences, perspectives, and skills in a supportive and inclusive work environment. We hire people with exceptional talent and create an environment in which every individual can thrive professionally and personally.

WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH

Over the past two decades, Bain has formalized Industry and Capability areas, internally known as “Practices,” integral to how Bain wins and delivers results for clients. A Practice can be considered a business unit of Bain & Company. While there may be some allocation to client-facing work, a role within a Practice primarily supports our client-facing partners and case teams to deliver great client and people success stories. Practices define and implement their own strategies and allocate resources to:

  • Boost Bain’s knowledge and expertise in the sector or capability
  • Prioritize clients and enable client full potential
  • Develop partner team and capabilities
  • Build the practice’s brand and reputation externally

You’ll join Vector Product, Practice & Knowledge (PPK) team, a global capability team that supports our AIS and ET practices.  Within Vector, the Strategy & Operations team functions as the general management office for the business — working closely with Vector leadership to shape growth strategy, ensure operational excellence, and drive commercial performance.

WHERE YOU’LL FIT WITHIN THE TEAM

The Vector Strategy & Operations Senior Manager role is a pivotal position at the heart of this business unit. You will act as a co-pilot to practice leadership, leading planning, reporting, and sales operations, while supporting commercial growth and affiliate management. This is not a stepping stone into consulting, but a strategic business leadership role suited for someone who thrives on shaping and running a business unit from the inside.

As a Senior Manager, you will oversee the internal Strategy, Operations, and Sales Operations agenda for Vector. You’ll report to the Vector Chief of Staff to set strategy, manage budgets and reporting, and enable commercial effectiveness through pipeline management, forecasting, and sales enablement. You’ll also coach and oversee junior team members while rolling up your sleeves to deliver analysis and insights directly.

This is an ideal role for someone motivated by business management, operational leadership, and commercial enablement, with impact measured in practice-wide growth, client development, and long-term business value creation.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Vector Planning & Strategy Execution (30%)

  • Partner with Vector leadership to define and deliver annual and long-term growth strategies.
  • Lead and manage strategic planning cycles, synthesizing inputs from practices, solution, sector, and regional leaders into a cohesive agenda.
  • Provide thought partnership and analysis to leadership, surfacing data-driven insights and recommendations.
  • Drive special strategic projects, as needed

Vector Operations & Reporting (60%)

  • Own the operational rhythm of Vector, including annual planning, pipeline management, sales operations, and affiliate tracking.
  • Ensure consistency across practices by collaborating closely with ET and AIS Global teams.
  • Design and deliver performance reporting in coordination with the PPK Reporting & Analytics team.
  • Build and maintain dashboards that provide visibility into KPIs, revenue performance, and productivity.
  • Understand win / loss and pipeline results and work with regions on tracking.
  • Apply advanced analytics and AI tools to uncover performance drivers and improvement opportunities.
  • Streamline operational processes through centralization, automation, and standardized reporting.
  • Partner with Finance, Marketing, and Practice leaders to align on Vector’s operational priorities.
  • Prepare materials and executive-level summaries for leadership meetings and performance reviews.
  • Manage practice meetings and leadership calls, ensuring effective design, content, and execution.

Practice Communications & Teaming (10%)

  • Lead Vector communications, including operational alignment at the Vector, ET, and AIS level (practice, solution, regions)
  • Mentor and coach junior team members, providing oversight, feedback, and professional development support.
  • Act as a role model for Bain’s Operating Principles, fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performance culture.

ABOUT YOU

  • 7–10 years of relevant experience, ideally in strategy consulting, corporate strategy, practice management, or sales operations leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, planning cycles, and commercial operations for a global or complex business unit.
  • Proven experience leading sales operations processes such as pipeline management, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Track record of delivering actionable insights through analysis and reporting.
  • Interest in and familiarity with AI and analytics tools and trends (e.g., large language models, machine learning applications).
  • Strong communicator, collaborator, and team player.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent executive communication and presentation abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with sales operations tools (CRM, dashboards, BI platforms) and advanced Excel/Google Sheets.
  • Comfort using AI tools with a desire to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of business operations.
  • Collaborative, team-oriented mindset with proven coaching and mentoring skills.
  • High degree of maturity and discretion when handling confidential information.
