WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH

Bain's NextGen Software Solutions (NGSS) team’s mission is to take new software products within Bain from zero to scale. We discover, build, and support applications around the company’s most important intellectual property, and serve as the company’s internal subject experts on our own software.

You will support clients and case teams working with our Signal by Bain product. Signal is a powerful, flexible, cloud-based program management tool that provides unmatched visibility over every aspect of a client merger or divestiture.


WHERE YOU’LL FIT WITHIN THE TEAM

The Senior Analyst, Product Management is a member of the Next Generation Software Solutions (NGSS) team whose mission is to drive better and faster results for Bain consultants and clients through digital products that are embedded in Bain's consulting solutions. The NGSS team partners closely with Industry and Capability Practices to bring Bain's IP to life through the development and growth of tools, technologies, services, and support capabilities.  

In this role, the Senior Analyst understands how software fits into the consulting strategy and supports the product team and the Practice to deliver product outcomes that drive commercial objectives. The Senior Analyst may also contribute to projects and support broader initiatives.  


WHAT YOU’LL DO

Discovery and Delivery Execution (50%)

  • Independently contribute to the development and execution of the backlog by researching and creating user stories, defining requirements and acceptance criteria, testing new product ideas, bug fixes and enhancements, and communicating key information about product releases
  • Support the product by answering questions from users, customer success, etc. and troubleshooting issues, attempting to find the root cause and escalating when required


Product Strategy, Planning and Operations (25%) 

  • Understand the broader Bain vision, relevant consulting solution(s) and software-enabled consulting strategy 
  • Understand the product strategy, roadmap, product priorities, and OKRs to guide the development team and make well-informed recommendations and product decisions 
  • Understand product positioning, budgeting, pricing and go-to-market strategy


Product Mindset and Customer Insights (15%)

  • Knowledgeable of product management and software development best practices 
  • Have deep understanding and empathy for users and develop knowledge of the industry and competitive landscape
  • Track, analyze and organize key metrics and user feedback, summarizing findings for the lead PM, development team and business stakeholders
  • Understand how to assess feasibility, desirability and viability, can identify trade-offs and can make recommendations on how to balance technical and business requirements


Collaboration and Influence (10%)

  • Build strong relationships and collaborate closely with internal and external cross-functional team members (including designers, engineers, QA, analytics and client-facing teams) to continuously deliver value throughout agile development processes
  • Participate in departmental and organizational initiatives


ABOUT YOU

Experience

  • 3-5+ years working on software products in a support role, as a business analyst, or in an entry-level product role
  • Business professional (C1 or C2) English language proficiency as defined by CEFR / CENNI

Education

  • Associate's/Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Must have at least "coursework complete" designation from your university.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and time management skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills 
  • Demonstrated passion for learning, curiosity, and ability to quickly grasp new technologies, tools, and concepts
  • Foundational data skills and technical acumen, including strong data analytics abilities
  • Practical experience in gathering, interpreting, and validating user needs, as well as defining, documenting and validating requirements
  • Proficiency in agile methodologies
  • Demonstrated basic presentation and storytelling skills through PowerPoint and other visualization tools
  • Strong thought partnership, collaboration, and ability to slice bigger requirements into smaller, more manageable pieces
