WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH


You’ll join Bain’s Global Retail Practice team, a passionate and innovative group recognized as one of Bain’s flagship practices. Our practice covers all major retail sectors, including grocery, apparel and footwear (including luxury fashion), specialty retail, restaurants and food service, and travel and leisure.


As part of this team, you’ll collaborate with colleagues across the globe, partners leading intellectual property (IP) initiatives, and Bain’s marketing and editorial teams. You’ll also work closely with other Practice Consultants worldwide and members of Bain’s broader Product, Practice, and Knowledge (PPK) ecosystem.


WHERE YOU’LL FIT WITHIN THE TEAM


This full-time role supports Bain’s Retail practice globally (50%) and in the Americas (50%), with preferred location in Lisbon. Reporting to the Global/Americas Retail Practice Director, you’ll help shape Bain’s retail IP and drive thought leadership across one of Bain’s largest and fastest-growing industry sectors.


WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Build elements of Bain’s distinctive, provocative retail IP and points of view through research, data analysis, and expert input
  • Collaborate with partners and practice leaders to develop, refine, and commercialize new products and insights
  • Support marketing efforts on thought pieces externally in formats such as briefs, infographics, webinars, and videos
  • Actively deploy IP internally and externally, supporting affiliates, case teams, and commercialization initiatives
  • Provide support to client-facing teams, ensuring frontline learnings improve our content
  • Support major practice meetings and summits, from agenda setting to presenting the latest IP
  • Coach and mentor colleagues on the practice team, contributing to professional development and a strong team ethos


ABOUT YOU

Qualifications

  • BA or equivalent required; MBA preferred
  • 5-8 years professional experience + undergrad or 4-5 years experience with MBA/Master’s, including 1–2 years of current or recent consulting experience at the Consultant level with a leading consulting firm
  • Analytical and problem solving skills and expertise to push insights to conclusive recommendations 
  • Ability to effectively drive a piece of work end-to-end with limited direction
  • Can perform complex, accurate analysis
  • Continuously learns from one experience to another and makes thoughtful recommendations on improvements 
  • Structure and design impactful slides and updates; can clearly communicate insights and implications of work
  • Steer and direct highly effective small meetings; participates in meetings with more senior stakeholders and appropriately shares opinion
  • Track record of inspiring, motivating and apprenticing junior team members

Preferred Experience

  • Retail sector exposure (consulting or industry)
  • Project management experience
  • Familiarity with data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., Alteryx, Tableau)
