Who You Will Work With
Bain’s Sustainability Center of Excellence (CoE) plays a pivotal role in advancing the firm’s sustainability and carbon management initiatives. This position involves managing smaller sustainability cases, supporting complex cases under the direction of Project Leaders, and delivering actionable insights that drive Bain’s global sustainability goals.
As part of the S&R Flex Team, the Associate operates globally across diverse industries, managing 1–3 Analysts, and contributes to Bain’s offerings related to S&R practice. The role emphasizes working with frameworks such as the GHG Protocol, analyzing Scope 1–3 emissions, and staying abreast of carbon regulations. The Associate also applies technical expertise by implementing small-scale automation solutions using coding and AI tools.
The Project Lead (PL) will lead end-to-end delivery of sustainability and ESG disclosure work globally, supporting the Director, Global Sustainability and CSO with high-quality, client-ready outputs. The PL will drive project execution across disclosure and ratings programs including GRI, EcoVadis, CDP translating complex requirements into clear workplans, robust analytics, and compelling narratives.
As a PL within the Sustainability Center of Excellence (CoE), the role requires strong project management skills, deep familiarity with disclosure standards and questionnaires, and the ability to manage multiple workstreams while engaging effectively with senior stakeholders. This position reports into a Manager/ Sr Manager
What You'll do
Project Management & Leadership:
- Own end-to-end delivery of sustainability disclosure and ratings engagements across frameworks like GRI, EcoVadis, CDP
- Manage project scope, timelines, risks, and delivery cadence across workstreams
- Ensure timely, zero-defect delivery through rigorous reviews and quality control
Subject Matter Expertise (ESG Reporting & Advisory):
- Bring deep expertise in ESG reporting frameworks and disclosure requirements across GRI, ISSB, CDP, CSRD and related standards
- Translate evolving ESG regulations and best practices into clear, actionable guidance
- Advise on ESG risks, opportunities, and reporting practices to improve disclosure quality and decision-making
Client Engagement & Communication:
- Act as the day-to-day lead with senior stakeholders; manage priorities and resolve issues
- Lead working sessions and align internal and client teams
- Communicate clear, executive-ready insights through slides, dashboards, and submissions
Team & People Management:
- Lead and review the work of Analysts and Associates; manage workloads and delegation
- Work closely with your manager to coach team members and build capabilities in ESG disclosure and ratings workflows
- Drive consistent ways of working and documentation standards
About You
- Candidate should be a graduate/post-graduate with strong academic records and relevant experience in sustainability, ESG reporting, disclosures, ratings, or related advisory roles
- Work experience: 5–7 years (undergraduate) or 4–6 years (postgraduate) in relevant industry
- Hands-on experience delivering ESG disclosures and ratings submissions across GRI, EcoVadis, and CDP (Climate Change and Water Security)
- Strong understanding of ESG reporting frameworks, disclosure requirements, and compliance expectations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to develop executive-ready narratives and presentations
- Strong proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with Power BI or Tableau preferred
- Familiarity with coding (e.g., Python) and ability to apply prompt engineering and AI tools to enhance efficiency and automate processes will be preferred
