The BCN comprises of Consulting Services, Knowledge Services and Shared Services.

 

Who you will work with

The Consumer Products Center of Expertise collaborates with Bain’s global Consumer Products Practice leadership, client-facing Bain leadership and teams, and with end clients on development and delivery of Bain’s proprietary CP products and solutions. These solutions aim to answer strategic questions of Bain’s CP clients relating to brand strategy (consumer needs, assortment, pricing, distribution), revenue growth management (pricing strategy, promotions, profit pools, trade terms), negotiation strategy with key retailers, optimization of COGS etc.

You will work as part of the team in CP CoE comprising of a mix of Directors, Managers, Projects Leads, Associates and Analysts working to implement cloud-based end-to-end advanced analytics solutions. Delivery models on projects vary from working as part of a CP Center of Expertise, broader global Bain case team within the CP ringfence, or within other industry CoEs such as FS / Retail / TMT / Energy / CME / etc. with BCN on need basis.


  

What you’ll do 


Owns an end-to-end client project delivery and management


  • Ensures timely and high-quality delivery to clients through effective team management (~3-5 Analysts and Associates) 
  • Define deliverables; prioritize and set deadlines; review work, provide feedback and ensure quality control
  • Lead meaningful and focused meetings on all project workstreams, deliver business insights effectively to the CoE/case leadership
  • Be willing to take on challenging analytical problems and read research papers to come up with cutting-edge solutions from across disciplines to arrive at analytical solutions
  • Proficient at identifying and using the relevant data / analytical tools to ensure high quality deliverables across all work streams / client questions
  • Ensure application performance and scale, maintaining high standards of code quality and thoughtful design
  • Identify and proactively engage on critical issues on projects with clients; Proactively resolve roadblocks, escalate issues as needed
  • Leads and owns work planning, and problem solving, and hypothesis generation, research and insight generation 
  • Experienced with delivering projects relating to brand strategy, revenue management, negotiations, pricing / promotions etc., relevant to the CP industry
  • Proficient on the key data sources / metrics for CP industry and proficient on the analytical tools (Alteryx/tableau/etc.) 
  • Expertise on 1 or more key sub-sectors within CP covering consumer preferences, trends, market, and competitor landscape

 

Go-to-expert on data and products/tools, with experience on CPGs a big plus

 

  • Experienced with delivering projects relating to brand strategy, revenue management, negotiations, pricing / promotions etc., relevant to the CP industry 
  • Proficient on the key data sources / metrics for CP industry and proficient on the analytical tools (Alteryx/tableau/etc.) 
  • Expertise in building and deploying advanced analytics solutions, including large-scale data processing, computationally intensive Optimization, Machine Learning and Deep Learning models
  • Ability to deploy advanced analytics solutions on AWS/Azure
  • Gain proficiency in the key industry data sources KPIs along with developing expertise in analytical tools, models and languages
  • Gain proficiency in select consulting solutions (go-to-market strategy, revenue management, account management, brand strategy, etc.) delivered to and relevant for CP industry clients, along with expertise in one or more key sub-sectors within CP

 

Leads client communication and engagement

 

  • Understand client needs and business objectives to derive effective hypothesis 
  • Lead the process of Translating business problems into ML problems and create ML solutions to produce desired customer business outcomes.
  • Brainstorm with internal & external stakeholders to understand and resolve complex issues across work streams; Generate and screen realistic answers based on sound reality checks and recommend actionable solutions
  • Brainstorm and actively participate as thought leaders to establish a blue-print for cloud-based deployment of any analytical and/or data-driven solution
  • Effectively manage client and team meetings, deliver clear and professional presentations to the project leadership and client team
  • Show ability to work in a fast-paced working environment; adapt to changing client situations and expectations

 

Exerts strong positive influence over regarding hiring, developing, and retaining top talent 

 

  • Create professional development plans to provide effective coaching/training to associates and analysts as direct reports
  • Provide day-to-day coaching on work-planning, problem solving, hypothesis generation and research toolkit. 
  • Constructively engage in mutual feedback process with supervisor and direct reportees; Recognize accomplishment and provide concrete, regular, and actionable feedback
  • Deliver performance reviews and recommend performance ratings
  • Collaborate with team members to make the solutions as client ready as possible

 


About you

  • Candidates should be graduates/post-graduates with strong academic records
  • Work experience range in case highest qualification is undergraduate studies – 5-6 years of relevant experience and exposure to management consulting and data science/analytics relating to market / business / consumer insights, preferably in a global MNC environment within Consumer Products / Retail industry domains
  • Work experience range in case highest qualification is postgraduate studies – 3-4 years of relevant experience and exposure to management consulting and data science/analytics relating to market / business / consumer insights, preferably in a global MNC environment within Consumer Products / Retail industry domains
  • Prior experience of leading and developing high performing teams with an emphasis on execution and through-put
  • Ability to deliver high quality AI solutions in a matrix organization, thinking out of the box and solving hard problems while navigating through ambiguity
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing AI strategies at scale, solving identified business problems, and achieving optimization in the product development and ML project lifecycle
  • Excellent communication skills by being comfortable in interacting with technical and non-technical audiences including business and tech leadership
  • Hands-on experience in building complex statistical models in some of the following:
  • Supervised – Classification, Regression, Time Series forecasting
  • Unsupervised – Clustering, Anomaly detection
  • Prescriptive analytics – Linear and non-Linear optimization
  • Domains/Sectors – Natural Language Processing, with experience in CPGs a big plus
  • Professional experience in providing internal/external strategic consulting to Consumer Products clients, aimed at developing go-to-market strategies, negotiation strategies, pricing/promotional plans, cost optimization for clients 
  • Proven track record of managing and maintaining multiple client accounts and internal teams 
  • Ability to analyze quantitative and qualitative data to identify patterns, opportunities and gaps, and integrate across disparate industry data resources (e.g., Nielsen/IRI, Mintel, Kantar, shopper card data, client financials etc.)
  • Excellent implementation skills in Python and/or R, SQL and (preferably) PySpark with understanding of in analytical tools and techniques including / similar to Alteryx, Tableau, Power BI
  • Well versed in dealing with large datasets and using ML/DL libraries or packages
  • Deep understanding of the Gen-AI tooling ecosystem including knowledge and experience of Kubernetes, MLOps and AIOps tools (mandatory)
  • Proficient with Excel, and PowerPoint
  • (Good-to-have) Familiar with Cloud services (AWS) related to AI/ML
  • Professional experience in analytical tools and techniques including / similar to Alteryx, Tableau, Power BI is mandatory; Understanding of Python, R, and SPSS would be a plus
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and develop open ended ideas to practical results
  • Maturity to lead by example, willingness to get into detail as required while also balancing delegation effectively
