Description & Requirements

WHAT MAKES US A GREAT PLACE TO WORK

We are proud to be consistently recognized as one of the world’s best places to work. We are currently the top ranked consulting firm on Glassdoor’s Best Places to Work list and have earned the #1 overall spot a record seven times.

Extraordinary teams are at the heart of our business strategy, but these don’t happen by chance. They require intentional focus on bringing together a broad set of backgrounds, cultures, experiences, perspectives, and skills in a supportive and inclusive work environment. We hire people with exceptional talent and create an environment in which every individual can thrive professionally and personally.

WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH

Over the past two decades, Bain has formalized Industry and Capability areas, internally known as “Practices,” integral to how Bain wins and delivers results for clients. A Practice can be considered a business unit of Bain & Company. While there may be some allocation to client-facing work, a role within a Practice primarily supports our client-facing partners and case teams to deliver great client and people success stories. Practices define and implement their own strategies and allocate resources to:

  • Boost Bain’s knowledge andexpertisein the sector or capability
  • Prioritize clients and enable client full potential
  • Develop partner team and capabilities
  • Build the practice’s brand and reputation externally

You’ll join Product, Practice & Knowledge (PPK) team, a global capability team that supports Vector, our AIS and ET practices. Within Vector, the Strategy & Operations team functions as the general management office for the business — working closely with Vector leadership to shape growth strategy, ensure operational excellence, and drive commercial performance.

WHERE YOU’LL FIT WITHIN THE TEAM

The Senior Manager, Strategy and Operations role is a pivotal position at the heart of this business unit. You will act as a co-pilot to practice leadership, leading planning, reporting, and sales operations, while supporting commercial growth and affiliate management. This is not a stepping stone into consulting, but a strategic business leadership role suited for someone who thrives on shaping and running a business unit from the inside.

As a Senior Manager, you will oversee the internal Strategy, Operations, and Sales Operations agenda for Vector. You’ll report to the Vector Chief of Staff to set strategy, manage budgets and reporting, and enable commercial effectiveness through pipeline management, forecasting, and sales enablement. You’ll also coach and oversee junior team members while rolling up your sleeves to deliver analysis and insights directly.

This is an ideal role for someone motivated by business management, operational leadership, and commercial enablement, with impact measured in practice-wide growth, client development, and long-term business value creation.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Governance, Leadership Forums & Operating Cadence (10%)

  • Program-manage Vector’s governance and operating cadence on behalf of the Vector Chief of Staff, including GLT meetings, QBRs, and Board/GOC updates: workplans, agendas, timelines, pre-read readiness, version control, and action/decision tracking.
  • Coordinate the operating rhythm for reviews, HLAs, and leadership allocations and related leadership forums as part of the cadence (annual/quarterly timelines, inputs, quality checks, communications).
  • Drive stakeholder “pre-wire” to surface issues early, reduce rework, and ensure forums are consistently decision-ready.
  • Maintain and improve repeatable templates and workflows to increase speed, quality, and consistency.

Regional Coordination & Execution (20%)

  • Run the regional coordination process for Vector priorities: two-way communication loops, deadlines, consolidated updates, and escalation of risks/issues to the Chief of Staff.
  • Maintain trackers and standard toolkits that enable consistent execution across geographies (templates, status formats, RAPIDS/owners, escalation paths).
  • Identify recurring execution bottlenecks and coordinate resolution with regional stakeholders; escalate when cross-team alignment or leadership decisions are needed.
  • Provide crisp, consolidated regional visibility for leadership (what’s on track, what’s at risk, and recommended next steps).

Communications, Townhalls & Internal Community (10%)

  • Own operational execution of Vector communications: newsletters, townhalls, and leadership updates aligned to priority narratives.
  • Track engagement signals and iterate on channels, formats, and cadence to improve reach and effectiveness.

Analyst Management, External Marketing & Competitive Intelligence (30%)

  • Lead day-to-day delivery of Vector’s Analyst program (e.g., Gartner/Forrester/IDC): annual calendar, workplans, contributor coordination, quality checks, versioning, and on-time submission.
  • Oversee BCN team responsible for repeatable process and delivery.
  • Support response development by synthesizing inputs (benchmarks, proof points, case examples), drafting narrative sections, and ensuring submissions are rigorous, defensible, and commercially relevant.
  • Manage internal review logistics (risk/compliance, leadership sign-off), maintain a clean repository (prior submissions, Q&A logs, analyst requests), and ensure auditability/version control.
  • Support analyst engagement motions (briefings/inquiries) led by senior stakeholders: prep packs, logistics, follow-ups, and capture of insights/implications for leadership.
  • Maintain a durable competitive intelligence baseline (competitor profiles, offerings/positioning, proof points, “what changed” tracking) and produce periodic market/competitor pulse updates.
  • Coordinate closely with Vector Marketing, editorial, and design to refine messaging, storyline, formatting, and content reuse across internal/external channels.
  • Maintain the editorial calendar and stakeholder input process; draft content where appropriate and coordinate review/approvals.
  • Partner with Marketing and editorial stakeholders to ensure narrative consistency and high-quality storytelling; amplify priority content (analyst outcomes, market insights, wins, key initiatives).

Strategic Initiatives & Special Projects (30%)

  • Support and lead workstreams for Senior-sponsored strategic initiatives that require deep analysis, structured problem solving, and cross-stakeholder coordination (e.g., operating model improvements, performance interventions, program launches).
  • Produce executive-ready materials (decision memos, pack pages, trade-off analyses) that frame issues clearly and recommend options.
  • Mobilize workstreams, clarify owners/timelines, and drive follow-through to measurable outcomes; document lessons learned and convert repeatable elements into templates or standard processes.

ABOUT YOU

  • 7–10 years of relevant experience, ideally in strategy consulting, corporate strategy, practice management, or sales operations leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, planning cycles, and commercial operations for a global or complex business unit.
  • Proven experience leading sales operations processes such as pipeline management, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Track record of delivering actionable insights through analysis and reporting.
  • Interest in and familiarity with AI and analytics tools and trends (e.g., large language models, machine learning applications).
  • Strong communicator, collaborator, and team player.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent executive communication and presentation abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with sales operations tools (CRM, dashboards, BI platforms) and advanced Excel/Google Sheets.
  • Comfort using AI tools with a desire to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of business operations.
  • Collaborative, team-oriented mindset with proven coaching and mentoring skills.
  • High degree of maturity and discretion when handling confidential information.
