The role of a Practice is to drive growth for Bain in a particular industry or capability together with offices, and boost Bain’s expertise and commercial excellence. Financial Services (FS) is the Bain Practice responsible for developing intellectual property and commercializing Bain’s approach to strategy, transformation, and operations across multiple sectors in this space, including Banking, Insurance, Wealth and Asset Management, Payments.


WHERE YOU’LL FIT WITHIN THE TEAM


The Practice Senior Manager Insurance will support the Global Sector Leader to achieve our growth aspirations. The role provides a great opportunity for someone to develop deep expertise and make a direct impact to our overall commercial success. The primary job responsibilities will include (1) IP/product development and knowledge management, (2) selling & serving support and (3) managing sector operations.


The Practice Senior Manager reports to the Global Sector Lead. He/she will also work on projects directly with select FS partners (e.g. on IP and sales/selling support). The Practice Senior Manager can be based in any Bain EMEA office; some travel may be required. This individual is expected to demonstrate a steady upward trajectory in the depth and scope of his/her contributions. This role is full-time or part-time. It can be structured as rotational or permanent (preferred). 


WHAT YOU’LL DO 

Selling Support


·       Direct proposal and client development support


o   Advise case teams on approach, working with interlock champions to customize for client situation, developing proposal for priority accounts in the sector


·       Affiliate and expert deployment


o   Identify experts for specific client development, proposals, pitches and delivery; connect them with client heads; work with regional team on affiliates staffed


·      Case team bootcamps/sector primer training


o  Train case team senior managers and associate partners on the sector


Sales Collateral


·       Rapid response


o   For priority accounts and opportunities, advise case teams on materials available and the approach recommended for their specific situation, often via calls to discuss the client request, company competitive situation and executive context


·      Briefs, videos, testimonials etc.


o  Own the sales collateral available for the sector, including what is needed to be competitive (formats, content topics, promoters); manage content creation


IP design & development


·       IP roadmap


o   Set the sector IP roadmap, advocate for sector IP on the Global IP council, present commercial rationale for specific IP


·       Sector specific IP


o   Manage and own complete IP topics/reports for the sector; develop content and manage team (including knowledge team and BCN CoE apprenticeship)


·      Interlock customization


o  Thought partner for the interlock champion on how and what to customize in solution IP for the sector; apprentice knowledge team where opportunities exist


IP deployment, delivery and commercialization


·       Affiliate training


o   Advise on design of engaging training meetings/calls; present content on topics where own expertise has been built


·       Go to market strategy


o   Design IP commercialization plan with Marketing Liaison; thought partner for Sector Leader on overall go-to-market strategy for the sector including marketing at the sector and account level


·      Client and case team support


o   Support case team managers during delivery, specifically in using the approach, tools, templates at their client; engage solution counterparts as needed


ABOUT YOU 


Education & Experience


·       Bain Consulting experience at the Senior Manager level, or


·      8-10 years’ professional services / [industry/capability] experience with undergrad degree, or


·      6-7 years’ experience with MBA/Master’s 


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities


·       Ability to independently tackle complex business problems while juggling competing priorities; can scope, plan, quality check and efficiently deliver exceptional work with insight-driven packaging and communications


·       Track record of deploying credible expertise on large domains with good results


·       Able to make unique thought contributions (not just an aggregator of others’ ideas) with an eye to commercial results


·       Can collaborate directly with senior stakeholders without an intermediary, and appropriately design and execute against a plan when additional support or actions are needed to reach alignment


·       Capable and inspiring people manager who can apprentice and develop through management (direct or indirect) of people and/or processes


·       Comfort with AI technologies and tools (e.g., ChatGPT), with an applied understanding of how they can create business value


·       Flexibility with hours needed to work with global team


·      Fluency in English 


Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities


·      Experience in working with clients in the insurance sector
