WHERE YOU’LL FIT WITHIN THE TEAM

The Manager, Enterprise Innovation sits within Tech Solutions and drives product innovation and discovery from ideation through launch. This includes partnering with customer teams to identify user needs and pain points; partnering with cross-functional delivery teams to create innovative solutions that meet those needs; and partnering with product management to develop and execute product roadmap. 
WHAT YOU’LL DO

The Manager will work cross-functionally with stakeholders to ensure that the solution meets customer requirements and business objectives. This role will also be responsible for leading rapid prototyping, pressure testing business models, driving build/buy/partner decisions, and enabling teams with the approaches, guardrails, tools to innovate self-sufficiently. This role requires an innovative individual with strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a passion for driving change. 

Key Responsibilities:

Innovation Advisory (10%)

  • Collaborate with Practices, business functions, and citizen innovators to identify opportunities for impactful solutions and improvements. 
  • Act as an advisor and coach on early-stage innovation & experimentation 
  • Help shape software strategy for customers 
  • Identify opportunities that benefit from technology 
  • Provide guidance on innovation practices and methodologies 
  • Foster a culture of innovation by celebrating and spotlighting impactful efforts across Bain 
  • Increase transparency and efficiency across Bain innovation by building a cohesive view of all initiatives, and rationalize, de-duplicate, merge new ideas within existing portfolio 

Opportunity Discovery (30%)

  • Coordinate early discovery phases of potential software opportunities 
  • Conduct problem discovery and validation 
  • Perform market scan and partnership evaluation 
  • Facilitate solution ideation, PoC definition, and test and learn activities 
  • Translate business goals into product concepts using design thinking, lean start-up philosophy, and agile delivery methods 

Solution Discovery & Product Design (30%)

  • Assess needs of target users through research methodologies 
  • Translate user needs into illustrative product concept (e.g. low-fidelity prototypes, wireframes) with detailed requirements 
  • Collaborate with appropriate team(s) on service design and defining the delivery model for the software solution 
  • Clearly convey the benefits, risks, and implications of product development approaches to drive critical go/no-go decisions 
  • Research and evaluate third-party technologies for potential use by Bain 

Product Development (20%)

  • Facilitate software development process using internal resources or working with vendors 
  • Engage in building proof-of-concept prototypes, creating minimum viable products, or enhancing established products 
  • Manage virtual teams operating across different time zones 
  • Enable smooth transition from pilot to full-scale production, technical integration, security, scalable infrastructure, operations, partnering with steady-state product manager 

Team and Stakeholder Management (10%)

  • Manage cross-functional, agile, technical team working on the software 
  • Oversee in-house resources or vendor collaboration 
  • Manage junior to mid-level stakeholder relationships 
  • Contribute to creation of playbook that captures repeatable steps for scaling high-value prototypes for broader Bain use

 

ABOUT YOU

Hybrid: This role follows a hybrid model, requiring in-office presence at least 1 day per week.

  • 3-5+ years of relevant professional experience
  • Associate's/Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • B2B early-stage product management experience building products from conception to launch 
  • Experience shipping successful enterprise software products with a heavy focus on decision support and workflow automation 
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment 
  • Knowledge of modern forms of product strategy and visioning, commercialization, customer research, product discovery, and product development processes 
  • Proven strong skills in stakeholder management 
  • Good problem-solving abilities around innovation and product software challenges, e.g., making the right trade-offs between solution ideas, features, quality, and time-to-market 
  • Good grasp of innovation, design and engineering processes and the full software development lifecycle 
  • High technical literacy and awareness of technology trends, choices, and risks, with the ability to translate these to a non-technical audience 
  • High literacy in project management, user-centric design, and agile methodologies 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills 
  • Ability to lead interactions with senior stakeholders (at Bain or Client) 

 

U.S. Compensation Information 

Compensation for this role includes base salary, annual discretionary performance bonus, 401(k) plan with an annual employer contribution based on years of service and Bain’s best in class benefits package (details listed below).

 

Some local governments in the United States require a good-faith, reasonable salary range to be included in job postings for open roles. The estimated annualized compensation for this role is as follows:

 

- In Boston, MA, the good-faith, reasonable annualized full-time salary range for this role is between $147,250-$176,750; placement within this range will vary based on several factors including, but not limited to experience, education, licensure/certifications, training and skill level

 

- In Chicago, IL, the good-faith, reasonable annualized full-time salary range for this role is between $141,000-169,250; placement within this range will vary based on several factors including, but not limited to experience, education, licensure/certifications, training and skill level

 

- Annual discretionary performance bonus

- This role may also be eligible for other elements of discretionary compensation

- 4.5% 401(k) company contribution, which increases after 3 years of service and is 100% vested upon start date
