Position Summary

This is a role of people management able to deliver on long-term projects and manage deliverables / projects with minimal input from supervisor on overall implementation plan.

This role is affiliated to their industry/capability (e.g. Consumer Products/Retail, Healthcare/Life Science,

Technology/Media/Telecoms, Financial Services, ESG etc.), focusing on sub-sectors, or subject matters (e.g.

company financials, deals, macro data etc.), with specialized knowledge of relevant research resources, driving innovation and thought leadership.

This role frequently works as part of project teams to drive research planning, information management, training, and capture of research experience.


Principal Accountabilities and % of time allocation (directional)

Research 40-50%

  • Deliver accurate, well-organized and often synthesized research results, and actively advise on research solutions and seek new ways of working to ‚do the job better•.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and effective use of local, regional and global general and industry / capability specialized data sources and their applications.
  • Independently represent team as subject matter expert with senior internal to deliver complex and specialized research and should also be proficient in conducting general research in all areas of interest to Bain.
  • Proactively work with customer senior stakeholders to understand project context, scope the research support, and identify and resolve roadblocks to gain alignment.
  • Maintain regular relationship with internal senior stakeholder and external vendors, solicit feedback on research, update on sources, and resolve issues. Asset building, management and others 50%-60%
  • Manage direct reports, and actively coach or mentor less experienced colleagues.
  • Actively contribute and may lead in Research and Data Services marketing efforts.
  • Lead in product and service evaluations and process / tool innovations, and drive implementation as appropriate.
  • Lead just-in-time and regular group training for researchers, consulting and consulting support staff, and regularly plan on training development, with limited oversight from supervisor.
  • May participate in vendor relationship management to monitor multiple contracts.
  • May lead regional or global initiatives as assigned with minimal input from supervisor on overall implementation plan.


Qualifications

Essential:

  • Advanced degree in Information Science or business from an accredited university - or equivalent higher education degree
  • 8+ years of experience conducting business research in a fast-paced consulting, market research or other professional services or equivalent preferred
  • Demonstrated proficiency in one or two of Bain•s Industry Practice Areas including deep knowledge of industryspecific data sources and understanding of industry dynamic
  • Experience in effectively managing long -term or multiple medium-term projects
  • Experience in effectively managing people and vendors


Preferred:

  • Proficiency in training, presentation, and project management
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Effectively working with diverse stakeholders and / or cross culture
  • Experience in proactively taking initiatives to enhance working efficiency
  • Open-minded attitude and team approach, e.g. adapting to different time zone per business needs etc.
