WHAT YOU’LL DO
This role is an exciting opportunity to join a growing finance department at a leading global consultancy firm. This newly created role will assist with defining policies and procedures relative to indirect taxes, and ensure the firm is compliant with applicable indirect tax regulations as we expand our digital capabilities.
Primary responsibilities include reviewing and approving indirect tax returns, managing sales tax audits, leading the indirect tax automation process, and ensuring compliance when new offerings are released. The role oversees indirect taxes for Canada and the United States. The position will also involve working with our core SAP S4/HANA Cloud ERP implementation team to build out the sales tax functionality in the new system. The successful candidate will be an integral part of defining an effective and streamlined approach to indirect tax in the new system. The role will also be involved in projects and process efficiency initiatives.

This is a Boston based position.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Review and approval of all United States indirect tax returns (sales tax, VAT tax, business tax, property tax) and related calculation support.
  • Review and reconcile indirect tax general ledger accounts and propose journal entries to record accruals as needed.
  • Propose and lead process improvement initiatives geared towards streamlining and making the indirect tax compliance process more efficient. Includes defining new processes for use with new SAP ERP system.
  • Prepare indirect tax policies and procedures as needed for use by internal and external stakeholders and educate internal personnel on changes in tax laws.
  • Research indirect tax laws and monitor new tax legislation.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, tax, or related field, CPA preferred
  • 4 – 6 years of experience within a finance/accounting team.
  • Experience working in a global environment with business partners and stakeholders located throughout the world.

  • Knowledge of accounting principles, practices and internal controls.
  • Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to solve problems independently or as part of a team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills that create and maintain strong, constructive relationships with business partners.
  • Exacting attention to detail while also demonstrating an ability to adhere to overall deadlines.
  • Ability to learn financial systems and reporting tools (i.e., SAP, Workday, Tableau) and highly proficient in Excel.
  • Ethical individual that acts with a high level of integrity.
