POSITION SUMMARY
Process Transformation & Execution
- Execute accounting transformation initiatives across APAC, including automation, standardization, and system enhancements.
- Identify process inefficiencies, perform root cause analysis, and implement practical, sustainable solutions.
- Drive simplification and reduction of manual activities to improve turnaround time and accuracy.
- Monitor implementation progress and ensure timely delivery of agreed transformation milestones.
Process Transitions & Operational Support
- Support and manage onshore/offshore process transitions with payroll accounting as a priority, including documentation, knowledge transfer, and stabilization.
- Ensure minimal disruption during transitions by maintaining strong governance, clear timelines, and stakeholder communication.
- Optimize workflows and task allocation to ensure effective coverage across APAC offices.
Operational Delivery & Controls
- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations for Asia Pac offices, ensuring transactions are recorded accurately and within corporate deadlines.
- Partner with local and global accounting teams to ensure timely month-end and year-end close.
- Maintain strong balance sheet governance, reconciliations, and ageing oversight.
- Strengthen internal controls and proactively address process gaps, risks, and audit observations.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Work closely with APAC leadership and Global Finance teams to align operational KPIs with financial reporting requirements.
- Provide clear updates on transition progress, process improvements, and performance metrics.
- Escalate issues in a timely and structured manner to ensure resolution.
Impact
This role plays a critical part in executing APAC’s finance transformation agenda by delivering measurable process improvements, ensuring smooth transitions, and building a more efficient and controlled accounting environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Support the Senior Manager/Director in driving strategic initiatives, including new projects focused on process efficiencies, business development priorities (BDPs), and operational enhancements.
- Assist in managing process transitions, including onshore and offshore migrations, ensuring minimal disruption and effective knowledge transfer.
- Champion simplification, standardization, and automation initiatives to improve scalability, consistency, and operational effectiveness.
APAC Operations
- Lead accounting transformation initiatives across APAC, including automation, process standardization, and system enhancements to improve efficiency, accuracy, and control effectiveness.
- Drive end-to-end process redesign to reduce manual intervention, enhance scalability, and strengthen the internal control environment.
- Identify digital enablement opportunities and collaborate with IT and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver sustainable process improvements.
- Ensure alignment of regional practices with global accounting standards, policies, and best practices.
- Partner with local and global accounting teams to deliver timely and accurate month-end and year-end close processes.
- Oversee the preparation and compliance of statutory financial statements in accordance with local regulatory requirements and global policies.
- Review and manage balance sheet reconciliations, open item clearance, and ageing analysis to ensure transparency and timely resolution.
- Prepare and review journal entries and financial reporting packages to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance.
- Provide insightful P&L and balance sheet variance analysis, including clear commentary to support regional and global reporting requirements.
- Support internal and external audits, working closely with Compliance and Surveillance teams to proactively address and mitigate audit observations.
- Establish, monitor, and publish key performance indicators (KPIs) aligned with defined benchmarks and reporting timelines.
- Proactively escalate material issues to appropriate levels of management.
- Strengthen internal controls, identify process gaps, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to mitigate financial and operational risks.
Leadership/management responsibilities/local impact
- Serve as a strategic finance partner to APAC leadership and global accounting teams, proactively managing escalations related to accounting issues, operational bottlenecks, and process gaps.
- Lead, develop, and mentor a team of accounting professionals, effectively allocating resources to meet reporting deadlines and transformation objectives.
- Provide technical accounting guidance and drive a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and high performance across the team.
QUALIFICATIONS/CAPABILITIES
- 12+ years of relevant experience in the Finance process with an excellent understanding of the shared services setup for delivery and process transformation
- Required: Master’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Management; Preferred: CA
- Min. 5 years’ experience in leadership roles
- Proven process transformation results
- Managerial experience including review, professional development, business planning, etc. This experience should be in the general accounting process within a shared service environment
- Deep understanding of general accounting activities and streams such as CAPEX, Flux/Variance, Balance sheet reconciliation etc.
- Demonstrated experience resolving complex employee relations issues.
- Proven ability to successfully manage a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize within a fast-paced, demanding environment.
