WHERE YOU'LL FIT WITHIN THE TEAM 

Provide leadership and support for all first year Associate Consultant (AC) programs including staffing, performance management and integration for first year ACs in the office.  Successful implementation of the various programs requires strong program management skills, thorough knowledge of policies and procedures, and effective communication.  


WHAT YOU'LL DO  

First year AC Staffing

  • Coordinate with case team leadership to understand staffing needs, including nature of assignment, staffing requirements, and oversee staffing of teams to projects based on understanding of client, office and individual needs.
  • Work with leadership teams and HR Partner to ensure staffing decisions best optimize tradeoffs between client service, utilization and retention.


First year AC Program/Class Management 

  • Develop one-on-one relationships with ACs to provide guidance and mentoring on career management.   Regularly meet with each AC to discuss their career development, goals, objectives, and interests.  Makes tradeoffs between client needs, office utilization and individual needs.
  • Monitor case team assignments to ensure ACs have a variety of consulting projects and diverse experiences.
  • Manage professional development of ACs.  Review all case end and consensus reviews to ensure quality feedback and clear messaging.  Determine appropriate ratings for individuals or help consensus reviewers settle on appropriate ratings for individuals in assigned cohort.
  • Develop holistic training calendar for class in conjunction with broader PM team; adjust to changing needs to cohort over time
  • Hold regular class meetings and trainings; invite relevant parties to ensure ACs are provided relevant content as pertains to their careers
  • Attend and provide input to quarterly meetings supporting PD of affinity group members
  • As needed, coordinate conversations with affinity group mentors (BAB, AAB, Familia, etc.) on performance management and coaching
  • Coordinate with HR on transfer process and leaves of absence for ACs
  • Partner with HR on performance management, employee relations and other issues related to employment law, risk and policy matters
  • Work with HR on processes impacting including Upward Feedback, Ratings, case-end and consensus reviews, and CTSU (bi-weekly case team surveys)
  • Participate in the development and recommendation operating policy and procedural improvements for ACs.
  • Own data integrity within BOSS (internal staffing system)
  • Proactively identify opportunities for continuous improvement in processes and content and partner with relevant stakeholders (other PMs, Consulting LT, HR, etc.) to operationalize 
  • Collaborate with other PMs to develop and roll out strategic initiatives that improve effectiveness of the PM team and increase office satisfaction (from (A)Cs and LT), through activities such as sustainability task force, AC value proposition, understanding Operating Principles, etc. 


AC Intern (ACI) Program Lead and First Year AC Recruiting Liaison

  • Coordinate with case team leadership to understand staffing opportunities for interns, including nature of assignment, and oversee staffing of ACIs to projects based on understanding of client, office and individual needs.
  • Monitor PD of ACIs throughout the summer and lead calibration for midpoint check-ins and offer decisions
  • Work with recruiting team on first year AC recruiting roles and needs
  • Work with recruiting on feedback loops (e.g. what makes a good hire) through both annual analysis and ongoing involvement in offer decisions
  • Recruit and interview for ACs as necessary.  


ABOUT YOU 

  • Bachelors Degree in Management, Liberal Arts, related field or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience is required.  MBA preferred.
  • A minimum of 6 years professional experience is required, 2 years progressive experience in management required, preferably in a consulting role
  • Deep knowledge of Bain & Company, Inc. and the roles of ACs, Consultants and Managers
  • Strong customer service, meticulous attention to detail and organizational skills necessary
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and quantitative skills
  • Outstanding interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills are required
  • Ability to deal with highly confidential information appropriately; ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and juggle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of, and experience with Microsoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint is required.


U.S. COMPENSATION INFORMATION

Compensation for this role includes base salary, annual discretionary performance bonus, 401(k) plan with an annual employer contribution based on years of service and Bain’s best in class benefits package (details listed below). 


Some local governments in the United States require a good-faith, reasonable salary range be included in job postings for open roles. For all other locations, the good-faith, reasonable annualized full-time salary range for this role is commensurate with competitive geographic market rates for this role and will vary based on several factors including, but not limited to experience, education, licensure/certifications, training and skill level


In New York, the good-faith, reasonable annualized full-time salary range for this role is between $165,000 - $198,000 placement within this range will vary based on several factors including, but not limited to experience, education, licensure/certifications, training and skill level


  • Annual discretionary performance bonus
  • This role may also be eligible for other elements of discretionary compensation
  • 4.5% 401(k) company contribution, which increases after 3 years of service and is 100% vested upon start date
