WHERE YOU’LL FIT WITHIN THE TEAM
As a Lead, Software Engineer, you will leverage your experience to develop and build software applications that address cutting-edge problems across various industries. You will be part of a diverse engineering team, participating in the full engineering life cycle. This includes designing, developing, optimizing, and deploying new software engineering solutions and infrastructure for the production scale of the world’s largest companies.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Collaborate closely with general consulting teams to identify software solutions to client business problems, and within a cross functional product team to develop and deploy production quality code, to prioritize and execute those solutions
- Serve as a technical lead in designing, developing, and documenting full stack application software; evaluating third-party software products for integration as needed
- Lead front-end development including unit and integration frameworks, package management, and CSS preprocessor
- Build reusable libraries and software components to accelerate the delivery of client solutions
- Participate in the full software development life cycle including architecture design, writing documentation and unit/integration tests, identifying issues and resolution, writing clean code, conducting code reviews, and mentoring other Engineers
- Work closely with web designers and developers to create modern UI/UX web applications
- Champion best demonstrated practices in software engineering, and share learnings with team members in AAG about theoretical and technical developments in software engineering
- Lead industry-leading innovations that translate into great impact for our clients in case work
- Influence, educate and directly support the software engineering capabilities of our clients
- Stay current with emerging trends and technologies in cloud computing, data analysis, and software engineering, and proactively identify opportunities to enhance the capabilities of the software platform"

ABOUT YOU
Technical Skills and Knowledge:
- 5 years minimum experience
- 3+ years at Senior or Staff level, or equivalent
- Experience (4+ years) with designing and building full-stack applications
- Experience (3+ years) with web application development and technologies such as React, Angular, Vue.js, HTML and CSS
- Experience (3+ years) with server-side development with frameworks and technologies such as Python, FastAPI, Node.js, Flask, Django, .NET Core or Java Spring Boot
- Experience building applications with Cloud platforms and services (AWS, Azure, GCP, etc.)
- Experience (2+ years) with micro-service API development (RESTful, GraphQL, gRPC)
- Experience working with container technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes
- Experience in engineering best practices for code quality, security, observability, logging, monitoring, and alerting
- Experience with data architecture, database schema design, database scalability and SQL
- Experience with SQL or NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or SQL Server)
- Strong computer science fundaments in data structures, algorithms, automated testing, object-oriented programming, performance complexity, and implications of computer architecture on software performance
- Knowledge of or experience working according to agile principles
Interpersonal Skills:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to explain and discuss technicalities of solutions, algorithms and techniques with colleagues and clients from other disciplines
- Curiosity, proactivity and critical thinking
- Ability to collaborate with people at all levels and with multi-office/region teams
- Relevant professional hands-on experience in web development, programming languages, version control, software design pattern, infrastructure and deployment, integration and unit testing implementation
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field preferred
U.S. COMPENSATION INFORMATION
Compensation for this role includes base salary, annual discretionary performance bonus, 401(k) plan with an annual employer contribution based on years of service and Bain’s best in class benefits package (details listed below).
Some local governments in the United States require a good-faith, reasonable salary range be included in job postings for open roles. The estimated annualized compensation for this role is as follows:
In New York City, California, Washington state, and Washington D.C., the good-faith, reasonable annualized full-time salary range for this role is between $151,500 - $186,500; placement within this range will vary based on several factors including, but not limited to experience, education, licensure/certifications, training and skill level
For all other locations, the good-faith, reasonable annualized full-time salary range for this role is commensurate with competitive geographic market rates for this role and will vary based on several factors including, but not limited to experience, education, licensure/certifications, training and skill level.

- This role may also be eligible for other elements of discretionary compensation
