WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH
You’ll join the Product, Practice and Knowledge (PPK) group. Over the past two decades, Bain has formalized industry and capability areas, internally known as “Practices”, integral to how Bain wins and delivers results to its clients. A practice is considered a business unit of Bain. The primary role of a Practice is to support client-facing teams to deliver results for clients, boost’s Bain’s expertise in an industry or capability, and to drive growth for Bain.
This role is a ‘center’ role in support of the Practices.
WHERE YOU’LL FIT WITHIN THE TEAM
You will join Bain’s Healthcare & Life Sciences Practice, on the team leading the Pharmaceuticals sector. You will work closely with the Global Sector Leader for Pharma and will report directly to the Global Pharma Practice Senior Manager.
As a Practice Manager/Consultant, you will be an integral part of:
- The Global Healthcare practice team (~15 team members across the 3 regions)
- A community of Practice Consultants/Managers globally (a team of peers with which to collaborate, learn from and experience-share)
- Bain’s broader Product, Practice, and Knowledge (PPK) team globally (supporting all industries and capabilities), which is a tight, collaborative community of more than 400 people globally, creating a team of peers with which to collaborate, learn from and experience-share.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Strategy Execution and Commercialization
- Support the execution of Practice strategic initiatives incl. program and process management to drive progress and accountability
- Facilitate affiliate meetings and account planning discussions aligned to commercial priorities, supporting in creating materials and coordinating amongst practices / affiliates
- Practice operations - support affiliate communications, KPI reporting, and custom tool development
- Affiliate and expert deployment - track deployment of affiliates and experts and their IP contributions to connect the dots between client discussions
- Ecosystem management – work effectively within the contributing functions of the PPK ecosystem & external strategic partners to drive practice priorities (e.g. Bain Advisor Network, Research & Data Services)
- Go to market strategy - liaise with Marketing on commercialization plan, including using best practices and pushing innovate ways of sharing IP with market and specific clients (e.g., bain.com, elevate, conferences)
Selling and Delivery (Team Enablement) Support
- Direct proposal and client development support - support account teams with approach and content creation for their specific situation, including customization of relevant case examples
- Case team onboarding/sector primer training - define training content needed for case teams (primers/bootcamps), support the development of training content, and train case teams on the sector as needed
- Rapid response - directly respond to more complex requests for support from case teams building on response from the Knowledge Team; connect case teams to experts as needed
IP design & development
- IP roadmap - proactively suggest IP topics for the sector, including priority and resourcing required; develop perspective on competitor offerings in the sector
- Sector-specific IP - develop more complex pieces of sector-specific IP, including multiple inter-related topics
- Interlock customization - independently tailor solution/capability IP to the sector with guidance from interlock champion(s)
- Persistent IP team management - advise persistent IP teams (e.g., Bain Capability Network) on sector nuances and perspectives in the space; serve on IP teams as available
- Briefs, snap charts, videos, testimonials etc. - build content for bain.com; work with Marketing Liaison on executing and posting to Bain.com, and disseminating insights to affiliates
ABOUT YOU
- This role follows a hybrid model, requiring in-office presence at least 3 days per week.
- 5-8 years professional services or Healthcare (preferably pharmaceutical/biotech) experience + undergrad
- 4-5 years experience with MBA/Master’s
- Analytical and problem-solving skills and expertise to push insights to conclusive recommendations
- Ability to effectively drive a piece of work end-to-end with limited direction
- Can perform complex, accurate analysis
- Continuously learns from one experience to another and makes thoughtful recommendations on improvements
- Can structure and design impactful slides and updates; can clearly communicate insights and implications of work
- Can steer and direct highly effective small meetings; participates in meetings with more senior stakeholders and appropriately shares opinion
- Has a track record of inspiring, motivating, and apprenticing junior team members
