WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH

Working alongside our generalist consultants, Bain's Advanced Analytics Group (AAG) helps clients across industries solve their biggest problems using our expertise in data science and engineering. Stationed in our global offices, AAG team members hold advanced degrees in computer science, engineering, AI, data science, physics, statistics, mathematics, and other quantitative disciplines, with backgrounds in a variety of fields including tech, data science, and academia.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Your role as an Expert Senior Manager, Product Management will include the following responsibilities:

  1. Deliver AA use cases and products to client successfully (client results)
    • Accountable for AAG success to ensure high impact results  
    • Broker AAG capabilities with Bain case team and client team to deliver on business need; serve as a bridge on ways of working between general consulting and delivery experts
    • Effectively collaborate and co-create with multiple stakeholders to drive results (e.g., internal practice teams, experts, outside partners, 3rd party vendors)
    • Create promoters for Bain and for AAG at all levels of our clients; create reference-able results stories & experiences
  2. Own product planning, product roadmap development, and execution of roadmap (distinct/technical expertise, client results)
    • Serve as translator between consulting and technical team resources to drive work planning, use case opportunity identification, product plan and roadmap development, and test design and delivery
    • Run an integrated process to which pulls together distinct competencies across all phases of work, including but not limited to use case identification and prioritization, ideation workshops, product design, software development, user testing 
    • Understand the solution architecture for development projects and work with lead engineers to mobilize the team to build software
    • Provide domain expertise in analytics and AI use case delivery and implementation, including deployment of ML pipelines into production 
    • Provide functional domain expertise (in areas such as consumer, marketing, and operations) to bring to clients an understanding of benefits (financial, operational) and delivery risks
    • Align stakeholders – including client team, Bain case team (general consultants and Expert Client Delivery professionals from AAG, I&D, and others), and external partners – on the best approach in each situation
    • Manage flexibility required to meet changing client and case team demands; assess the impact of those changes on AAG contributions and pivot where necessary
    • Lead communications and process that demands heavy collaboration with key stakeholders
  3. Invest in building an inspired team (developing self and others)
    • Play an active role in recruiting, onboarding, and integration of new talent
    • Invest in global team building (e.g., cross-region experience sharing)
    • Contribute to AAG culture creation and take on team, office, or firm initiatives
    • Successfully integrate AA “dedicated affiliate” AC/C team members
    • Serve as a mentor and coach for AAG team members
  4. Build capabilities and skills of AAG team, Bain case teams, and client teams (distinct expertise, developing self and others)
    • Build the AAG knowledge base by capturing learnings from client engagements
    • Use client and case team experiences to codify AAG’s use case delivery ‘playbook’ and strengthen our value proposition
    • Bring expertise across AAG product portfolio to selling and serving (grow our “roster” of use cases)
    • Embrace new challenges and opportunities to expand expertise that will enhance overall AAG capabilities
    • Define & reiterate on a commercially relevant/thought leading product offering & approach
    • dentify and nurture opportunities to teach and transfer knowledge, expertise, and capabilities to Bain teams and client teams
    • Act as Professional Development Advisor to 3-5 product managers
  5. Disseminate and deploy AAG internally with positive impact (distinct expertise, communications, stakeholder management)
    • Inspire, teach, and collaborate with case teams as we work in a hybrid team configuration
    • Support positioning of AAG internally and build awareness of value proposition
    • Build the AAG capabilities of Bain teams and partners; transfer expertise
  6. Help to build and scale a new business: Ops, Talent, Systems (sustainable business model)
    • Commercialize AAG offering by participating in proposal development
    • Represent Bain/AAG as an expert in sell and conversion situations, speaking fluently to strategic, technical, and analytical aspects of pitch
    • Help to achieve pricing realization for AAG
    • Enhance AAG’s brand through external reputation building and marketing efforts
    • Invest in special initiatives and projects that help us scale the function (ops/systems)

Travel is required (50%).

ABOUT YOU

The Expert Senior Manager, Product Management role requires passion for building advanced analytics/AI products, an entrepreneurial spirit, product development experience, empathy, and technical aptitude.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Passion for delivering high-impact client results in a fast-paced, evolving environment
  • Experience working in startups and other entrepreneurial environments 
  • Expertise in software development, including hands-on experience in AI solutions and deployment in production environments 
  • Experience in building and deploying ML pipelines into production
  • Well-versed in architecting and implementing enterprise-scale AI/tech solutions
  • Knowledge/experience using lean startup methodology
  • Agile project management experience and familiarity with Scrum 
  • Product management experience and history or track record of managing ideation to launch of analytics/ML-driven software, solutions, services, or other products. You should be able to speak fluently to the technical aspects and architecture of any software you helped build
  • Ability to rapidly absorb and interpret technical information. Fluency with modern design and development principles
  • Ability to manage cross-functional/inter-disciplinary teams including data scientists, ML engineers, application and data engineers, and designers
  • Ability to manage and align a team of multiple stakeholders including expert practitioners, client teams, case teams, third-party vendors, and other collaborators. Particularly important to be able to translate Bain manufacturing and delivery process into use case delivery terms and vice versa
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and emotional agility, able to interface across any level of Bain and client organization
  • Strong alignment with Bain operating principles
  • Technical degree (undergraduate or graduate) in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Engineering, or similar domain preferred
  • MBA preferred. Top-tier consulting experience preferred

U.S. Compensation Information 

Compensation for this role includes base salary, annual discretionary performance bonus, 401(k) plan with an annual employer contribution based on years of service and Bain’s best in class benefits package (details listed below). 

Some local governments in the United States require a good-faith, reasonable salary range be included in job postings for open roles. The estimated annualized compensation for this role is as follows:

In New York City, California state, and Washington state, the good-faith, reasonable annualized full-time salary range for this role is between $225,750 - $271,250; placement within this range will vary based on several factors including, but not limited to experience, education, licensure/certifications, training and skill level 

For all other locations, the good-faith, reasonable annualized full-time salary range for this role is commensurate with competitive geographic market rates for this role and will vary based on several factors including, but not limited to experience, education, licensure/certifications, training and skill level 

Annual discretionary performance bonus  

This role may also be eligible for other elements of discretionary compensation 

4.5% 401(k) company contribution, which increases after 3 years of service and is 100% vested upon start date
