WHERE YOU’LL FIT WITHIN THE TEAM
Bain & Company is seeking to recruit a Coro Consultant with advanced analytics expertise to join the firm’s Commercial Excellence Coro team in the Americas. The Coro Consultant will join the Coro delivery team to deploy Coro solutions, bringing deep data science, analytics, and modeling capabilities to generate actionable insights and drive value for clients. This is a client-facing role that involves deep interactions with clients as well as working deeply with the Bain case teams and commercial excellence solutions. As part of GTM strategy support, Bain’s Coro team leverages data science to build an in-depth, data-driven view of market opportunities, such as in our MoneyMap™ solution. The Coro Consultant will support and enhance these solutions through data matching, large-scale data aggregation, and advanced analytics, tuning Coro’s tools to meet client needs. In addition, they may also deploy other Coro tools like Partner Sonar or Profit Cube.
The ideal candidate will have experience deploying CRM and data analytics solutions, as well as strong skills in managing and manipulating large data sets using tools like SQL and Python. Experience as a consultant focused on commercial excellence and data science will be valuable, with a track record of identifying issues, developing hypotheses, executing analyses, and guiding clients toward actionable insights. The person will need to interface with the Coro Data Science manager, consulting team manager, the Commercial Excellence center of expertise (currently based out of India and Mexico) as well as Bain partners and experts to deliver value through the end-client engagements and capture learnings and recommended changes for ongoing process and product improvements. The role also provides opportunities to work with Coro product managers to ideate improvements and new features, as well as with Practice / Product leaders to design the optimal approach to product delivery. The individual would be deployed across ~1–3 different client engagements at any given time with support from the Coro delivery LT. In each of these deployments, they will leverage the Coro solutions specifically developed (or being developed) for Commercial Excellence engagements.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Client-facing
- Work with case team manager to understand the scope of work; provide relevant advice on Commercial Excellence, delivery model, applicable (internal and 3rd party) software tools, and bespoke data analysis using advanced analytics, machine learning, and GenAI
- Project manage market opportunity definition workstreams including defining deliverables, setting timelines, and delivering high-quality output
- Liaise with client map to understand client systems, data sources/structures relevant for Commercial Excellence work
- Assist in the facilitation of key workshops and interviews with clients to develop hypotheses and build buy-in related to Commercial Excellence work
- Support, and lead, on-shore / off-shore teams to perform predefined, as well as custom, analyses, including advanced analytics work deploying state of the art tools (ML algorithms, GenAI analysis of large datasets, etc.)
- Support client training (in conjunction with consulting manager, other case team members, and Next-Gen consultants) in use of relevant Commercial Excellence software tools and advise case teams on how to use full tool capabilities, as needed
- Manage and support set-up and configuration process of Coro solutions, working with case teams, as needed. This may include
- Supporting the scoping of tool usage within case context, and identifying visuals to support key questions
- Serving as first-line support during tool deployment phase for user queries and escalates / delegates where appropriate
- Supporting pre-sales engagements to help understand client challenges and recommend optimal approach and configuration
- Co-locate with the Bain case team during the case as required for case needs
- Support customers beyond the initial engagement in customer success motions
Capability building
- Become an internal expert in GTM strategy and data science within the Commercial Excellence practice
- Work closely with Coro product managers and leaders to deepen Bain’s ability to serve clients through data science and AI-enhanced Coro solutions
- Drive demand for Coro’s data science and AI-driven solutions, suggesting analytics and machine learning enhancements to expand the Coro suite’s capabilities
- Work with the Coro team to develop and refine training manuals, user guides, and other training materials (e.g., videos)
Team engagement
- Communicate effectively with case team concerning the work, the client relationship, and any Coro cadence/timelines
- Exert strong positive influence and professional development for team members by leveraging content expertise to provide coaching on problem-solving, work-planning, data science techniques, etc. as applicable
- Constructively engage in mutual feedback process with supervisor and team members
- Identify opportunities to support the growth and scaling up of the Coro business unit including planning, recruiting, developing people, training, etc. as possible
Technology product awareness and adoption
- Develop deep expertise in the Coro solution toolkit and advise consulting teams on features and capabilities, especially analytics and machine learning components
- Assist the Coro team in collecting, aggregating, and synthesizing user feedback related to the Coro suite of software tools; work with the Coro team in developing and prioritizing software enhancements and roadmap
- Deliver demos to Bain and client stakeholders for Coro tools and other Commercial Excellence products as required
- Provide new / pipeline case teams with relevant examples from previous users and other proposal collateral (e.g., dashboard screenshots, training materials, executive presentations)
ABOUT YOU
This role requires a minimum of three days per week working together in person, either at a client location or at your Bain home office. Travel is required. This position requires regional travel away from your home office/primary working location. Travel frequency and destinations will vary based on project needs.
- BA or equivalent
- Distinct commercial excellence experience, ideally experience running complex analytics and working with large datasets, as well as business consulting experience
- Proficiency in data science and analytics tools (e.g., Python, SQL, R), visualization platforms (e.g., Tableau), and experience building RAG-based and agentic AI systems
- We are looking for candidates that fit at least one of the below criteria:
- 1+ year/s of experience as a Bain consultant or Bain AAG Client Lead
- 4+ years of industry level experience in a data science or commercial operations role (MBA preferred in this case)
- Ability to quickly grasp and apply complex concepts
- Strong abilities in problem definition and problem-solving
- Excellent analytical capabilities and experience using complex modeling and analysis to inform key business decisions
- Excellent oral, written, and PowerPoint communication skills
- Proven ability to work effectively, and manage others in diverse and distributed teams
- Ability to work well with all levels within Bain and at client
- Ability to lead interactions with senior stakeholders (at Bain or Client)
- Comfort working independently and/or remotely from supervisors in a fast-paced environment
- Willingness to travel to client locations (expected 20-40%, potential peak of 60%)
Preferred:
- MBA, or PhD in a technical field. Advanced understanding of data science methodologies, including machine learning and modeling, with a strong analytical background
- Formal Agile/SCRUM certification. Experience supporting deployment of SaaS solutions with customers/clients or similar roles. Experience in software customer success roles. Experience in technology product management and project management.
U.S. Compensation Information
Compensation for this role includes base salary, annual discretionary performance bonus, 401(k) plan with an annual employer contribution based on years of service and Bain’s best in class benefits package (details listed below).
Some local governments in the United States require a good-faith, reasonable salary range to be included in job postings for open roles. The estimated annualized compensation for this role is as follows:
- In New York, California, Texas, Massachusetts, Illinois, and Georgia, the good-faith, reasonable annualized full-time salary range for this role is between $128,500-$171,500; placement within this range will vary based on several factors including, but not limited to experience, education, licensure/certifications, training and skill level
- For all other locations, the good-faith, reasonable annualized full-time salary range for this role is commensurate with competitive geographic market rates for this role and will vary based on several factors including, but not limited to experience, education, licensure/certifications, training and skill level
- Annual discretionary performance bonus
- This role may also be eligible for other elements of discretionary compensation
- 4.5% 401(k) company contribution, which increases after 3 years of service and is 100% vested upon start date
