ABOUT US:

Bain & Company is a global consultancy that helps the world’s most ambitious change-makers define the future. Across 65 offices in 40 countries, we work alongside our clients as one team with a shared ambition to achieve extraordinary results, outperform the competition, and redefine industries. Since our founding in 1973, we have measured our success by the success of our clients, and we proudly maintain the highest level of client advocacy in the industry.

In 2004, the firm established its presence in the Indian market by opening the Bain Capability Center (BCC) in New Delhi. The BCC is now known as BCN (Bain Capability Network) with its nodes across various geographies. Expert Client Delivery (ECD) is an integral unit of BCN. ECD plays a critical role as it adds value to Bain's case teams globally by supporting them with analytics and research solutions across all industries, specific domains for corporate cases, client development, private equity diligence, and Bain intellectual property.

WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH:

This role is ideal for a sector-focused Project Leader with expertise in Oil & Gas. The individual will combine deep industry knowledge, consulting problem-solving, and team leadership to support global case teams, develop impactful client solutions, and assist in developing new and differentiated capabilities for Bain's Oil & Gas Practice.

The ideal candidate brings broad understanding of the Energy & Natural Resources (ENR) sector, combined with demonstrated depth in at least one of the following domains:

  • Upstream – Exploration and production including deep understanding in upstream economics and key terminologies used to assess quality and performance of upstream assets, gas processing and liquefaction, production operations and asset performance optimization
  • Downstream – Refining operations including deep understanding of refined products value chain, refinery economics and measurable KPIs to assess performance, margin optimization and operational performance improvement

This role requires a leader who is comfortable driving complex analysis, managing workstreams with 2-3 Associates / Analysts, and shaping innovative offerings that leverage emerging technologies, AI-enabled solutions and advanced analytics to create a high ENR client impact.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Support Bain case teams globally on strategic, operational and transformation-focused engagements across the Oil & Gas sector
  • Apply industry and functional expertise to help develop practical, actionable solutions that address client challenges and create measurable value
  • Conduct market assessments, operational analysis, benchmarking and company research to support hypothesis-driven problem solving and recommendation development
  • Translate technical, operational and commercial industry knowledge into business insights that inform client decision-making
  • Develop high-quality client-ready deliverables, including presentations, analytical models, benchmarks and executive summaries
  • Contribute to the development of Oil & Gas knowledge assets, reusable intellectual property, and sector-specific capabilities within the ENR CoE, including AI-enabled products and analytical solutions that leverage large datasets to support faster, more informed client decision-making
  • Collaborate effectively with Bain consultants, BCN colleagues and industry experts globally, while providing guidance to Analysts

ABOUT YOU:

  • 3–5 years of Oil & Gas experience in industry and/or consulting, with expertise in areas such as exploration, production, gas processing, refining, marketing, or fuel retail.
  • Strong Energy & Natural Resources knowledge, including market trends, value chains, and commercial dynamics.
  • Strong analytical and consulting skills, with experience solving strategic, operational, and commercial business challenges using structured problem-solving.
  • Ability to independently own workstreams, collaborate with cross-functional/global teams, and deliver high-quality, client-focused outcomes.
  • Excellent communication and business acumen, with proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint, plus familiarity with analytics, visualization, and AI tools.
  • Innovation mindset, with interest in developing AI-enabled solutions, analytical products, and data-driven decision-support capabilities.
